Review: Give Yourself a Raise is a complete, easy to read guide on personal money management. Author Gordon Bennett Bleil provides pointed information and solid advice on a vast array of financial hot topics. It is a practical reference tool that can be skimmed,  and visited again and again. This book hits the basics of everything from investing, to insurance, and even emergency preparedness. As a bonus it also offers some helpful budgeting forms, and tactics to get out of debt and save up for big purchases. For this reviewer, his strategies for debt management, investing, retirement, credit scores, identity theft, and emergency preparedness were the most beneficial. He also provides user friendly money management worksheets and step-by-step directions on how to use them. I found the  Financial Freedom Risk Assessment Quiz particularly helpful and interesting to take. This helped me to easily identify a few areas where my family could become more financially responsible. Overall, I think that Give Yourself a Raise will help readers view money differently. In turn this will lead to less stress and hopefully some financial freedom.

Full Disclosure: Many thanks to the author and The Cadence Group as I received a copy of this book for free from them.

Design*Sponge at Home, is out in September.

I have been waiting for this day longer than I can possibly describe. While trying to find the perfect words to sum up this entire experience and project, I ran through a wide range of emotions: excitement, nervousness, fear, relief, exhaustion and complete and utter joy. There are quite simply no perfect words to sum up the experience of writing Design*Sponge’s first book than to say this: After two years of hard work, Design*Sponge at Home is available for pre-order!
