New Contests

With the announcement of the winner of last year's Short Story Collection Contest, Dzanc has announced that it is currently holding its sixth annual contest for all authors wishing to submit a short story collection to Dzanc Books. The winning author will be published by Dzanc in late 2016, and will receive a $1000 advance.

The contest deadline is January 31, 2014. The winner will be announced in the second quarter of 2014. All those that submitted will be apprised of the winner by email before the announcement is made public. More details can be found here.

Dzanc Books is also pleased to remind you that submissions are open for our 2013-14 Non-Fiction Award. All authors with a non-fiction manuscript are eligible. Subjects may include but are not limited to memoir, political, historical, biographical, and will be vetted by our Dzanc Books editors. A list of 10 finalists will be named and the winner chosen by Nathan Deuel, author of the forthcoming Friday Was the Bomb: Five Years in the Middle East. Nathan has also contributed essays, fiction, and criticism to The New York Times, The New Republic, Financial Times, GQ, and The Paris Review, among others. In 2013, he was named first runner-up in Ploughshares' annual Emerging Writer contest. Previously, he was an editor at Rolling Stoneand The Village Voice.
