The Buffer Zone Diet Review

The Buffer Zone Diet: How to Harness Your Hidden Fuel for a Slimmer and Healthier You
Written by Fred Cuellar
Page Count: 333
Publisher: Max Vera Publishing
Review: The Buffer Zone Diet is a fast read about the world of dieting and why we as a society are still not able to figure it all out. Cuellar explains to the novice how his experience with dieting has been an uphill battle, but a winnable battle nonetheless. This book reads more as a memoir, than a self-help book and can be consumed in one sitting. The one major flaw that stuck out for me was his use of Wikipedia as a source for information. I being an educator know the pros and cons of this website and would not use it as my sole source of information. I have never seen it used so extensively and would suggest that he reference the actual sources taken from Wikipedia in the future. However, Cuellar has published other books and is a very reliable source in general, so this did not impact my view of the book. I like the simplicity of his chapters and that he was so brutally honest with his struggle. Overall, this book is highly recommended for anyone who is looking to begin a weight loss program or needs a little bit of motivation in their current endeavors.

Disclosure:  I received a copy of The Buffer Zone Diet. Any opinions expressed are my honest opinions and were not impacted by my receipt of the free book. I received no monetary compensation for this post.

The book can be ordered from Amazon.com .

From the Publisher:
The Buffer Zone Diet contains the formula for regulating weight in the human body: It's not just what you eat, it's when you eat. The timing and frequency of your meals are as important as the meals themselves.

The discovery of The Buffer Zone Diet is a significant achievement and contribution to the  field of weight management, and it will be your last stop on your path to weight loss and good health."
-Dr. Nina, Author of FOOD FOR THOUGHT

About the book:
WHAT'S YOUR LIFE WORTH?
When you' re drowning, the last thing you do before you go unconscious is take a breath. The carbon dioxide rises so much in your blood it overpowers the last few molecules of oxygen in your body. You reach your breaking point, then you inhale.

Author Fred Cuellar inhaled food his whole life until he reached his breaking point in his battle with weight loss. Right at the moment he was ready to give up, he had a few last thoughts:
·     What if there were things he believed that weren't true?
·     What if calories in and calories out had exceptions?
·     What if we don't all metabolize food the same?
·     Why can't we successfully lose weight and keep it off?

Cuellar made it his mission to answer these questions his life depended on it. In his quest to break the weight loss code, he discovered the Buffer Zone that space between meals that is as important as the meals themselves. This is where he found his truth.

In The Buffer Zone Diet readers will discover:
·     The Top Ten Lies we've been told about our diet
·     Tips for distinguishing between emotional hunger and physical hunger
·     How to create nutrient-dense meals to keep physical hunger at bay
·     Science between weight loss and weight gain
·     Five distinct blueprints for designing the new and healthiest you
·     Strategies for breaking through weight loss plateaus
·     The Four Laws of Weight Management
·     And most importantly, the formula that regulates weight for the human body!

"6 Weeks to the Best Shape of Your Life"

Feed Muscle, Shrink Fat Diet

Book Five
Review:
I rarely read a diet/exercise book cover to cover, but this guide became an exception. This is a step-by-step look at Kathy's Matrix workout, a fast and simple total-body fitness plan. Kathy teaches you how to keep muscles strong and active by eating the right foods and doing the right combination of exercises. The chapters on stretching and easy recipes were the most useful for me and I really think that her philosophy that "Muscle is the key to weight loss success!" is right on target. Overall, this is a great collection of secrets for staying thin and I recommend it especially to any woman who wants to jump start their diet.

Another Oprah Diet

I am not a fan of the any of the Oprah diets for various reasons, but I love finding new and fun recipes. Here is one I thought would be great for Spring.
by Bob Greene

Florida Grapefruit Salad with Seared Shrimp
Makes 4 servings
Prep Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 90 minutes
INGREDIENTS
8 baby potatoes
3 Florida grapefruits
1 small fennel bulb, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
1/2 whole cucumber
1 avocado
1 persimmon
4 Tablespoons fresh pomegranate seeds
2 sprigs tarragon
1 head radicchio
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
12 jumbo shrimp (peeled and de-veined)

DIRECTIONS
Cook potatoes in boiling salted water until very tender.
While the potatoes are cooking, whisk the ingredients for the vinaigrette together in a medium bowl. Cut the cooked potatoes into quarters and put them directly into the vinaigrette while they are hot to infuse flavor.
Zest 2-3 tablespoons of grapefruit peel. Then, peel and segment the grapefruit and place in a strainer over a bowl to save juice for searing shrimp.
Thinly slice the fennel and cucumber. Peel and cube the avocado and persimmon. Peel seeds from the pomegranate. Pluck individual tarragon leaves from the stem. Tear the radicchio into medium-sized pieces. Set all ingredients aside. In a hot saut頰an, sear shrimp in one tablespoon of olive oil. Cook the shrimp approximately one or two minutes on each side.
Add grapefruit zest and reserved juice to pan. Combine shrimp and remaining salad ingredients together, toss and serve.

Fitness

by LL Cool J, Dave Honig, and Jeff O'Connell

Review: Most celebrity fitness books are lame, but this colorful and easy to follow manual had me interested just from the cover alone. Who doesn't love LL? Easy on the eyes and definitely someone to look up to in the world of cut up bodies. I was impressed with the sample meal plan and great recipes in this book. LL has 4 Platinum recipes: chili, a sandwich, a burger and a shake. Inside you will find "9 ways to burn 100 calories" and "9 reasons your not losing weight". There are easy tips on how you should approach cleaning out your fridge and a handy food breakdown chart with insight on label reading. Most of his exercises revolve around using your own body weight for toning and the importance of having good form in all activities. I didn't feel overwhelmed until I got to his weight lifting photos, wow, LL is strong! I like to stick to minimal weights and maximum cardio myself, but all and all this book is fun and informative.
Happy workout!
